Locals in Western Port will be better protected for the upcoming fire season following the official opening of the Crib Point CFA’s new fire station.
The new station gives the CFA two new truck bays, increased height in the motor pool to allow for more modern tankers, a breathing apparatus repair room, as well as increased space for admin and fire fighters.
Completing a five year project, Brigade members formally left their old Station at 137 Disney Street, Crib Point, marching to their new home at 191 Disney Street.
Federal Member for Flinders, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP joined with members of the Crib Point CFA and Western Port community for the official opening of the new station.
“Today ends years of hard work and dedication from the Crib Point CFA to bring this project to fruition,” Minister Hunt said.
“It was a privilege to work alongside the CFA during this process, to secure a peppercorn lease from HMAS Cerberus and the Department of Defence for the land for this new station and I’m thrilled to see how far this Brigade has come.”
“We worked closely and tirelessly with the CFA and the Department of Defence on this project and this finished station is a testament not only to the fire fighters themselves, but the immense community spirit surrounding the Crib Point CFA.”
“The CFA here in Crib Point, alongside other Brigades across the Mornington Peninsula and Victoria, provide an invaluable service to our community and we thank and honour them for their service. Every day we are awe-struck by the selflessness of your spirit, placing yourselves in mortal danger for the benefit of others. This new station is a fitting home for you and provides a thirty year home for the brigade.”
The Crib Point CFA will host an open day for the community on 8 December 2019 and invite all local residents to come and visit the new station.
