I am delighted that seniors are getting the assistance they need to move into the digital age with $1.3 million invested in the Broadband for Seniors program.
After hosting a seniors forum this week, I am well aware our older residents are increasingly taking up new technology and seeing the benefits.
Many of our older residents now have smartphones, tablets and laptop computers and are using these technologies to connect with loved ones and keep up to date on the latest news and events.
We want give all seniors the opportunity to benefit from improved technology and feel confident using many new devices.
The Broadband for Seniors program provides older residents with the opportunity to receive training and assistance in social media, emailing and cyber safety.
Volunteer tutors provide one-on-one assistance or small group training sessions for older residents interested in learning these important online skills.
More than 1600 Broadband for Seniors Kiosks have been set up across Australia in community centres, libraries and aged care facilities to provide this valuable training.
Broadband for Seniors kiosks in the Flinders electorate have been set up at:
· Aged Care Services 23 Capel Sands, Rosebud West
· Buehler Aged Care, Shoreham
· Hastings Community House
· Hastings RSL
· Koo Wee Rup Regional Health Service
· Rosebud Retirement Village
· Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre
· Sorrento Community Centre
